Summary

Students will talk about the reasons why they study a foreign language (Arabic or English), and will then share views on their experience learning that language. The aims are to develop an awareness of the advantages of language learning and to practice talking about cause, effect and feeling. The students will be able to make use of the infinitive/masdar and ways of saying "because".

Why study this language?

Students prepare a presentation on reasons for learning the foreign language. This should be on PowerPoint, and can include images, audio and video.


What is it like to learn this language? (Part 1)

Students prepare a questionnaire in their mother tongue for those students learning their language. First of all, they will have a discussion in the target language about the kinds of questions to ask. Then they write out a questionnaire in their mother tongue. This will be in MS Word.


What is it like to learn this language? (Part 2)

Students read the questionnaire in the target language and discuss their answers and opinions in the classroom. They then fill out the questionnaire.
