Summary

NEPAD, stands for New Partnership For Africa Development. It's objective is “ENSURING THAT YOUNG AFRICANS PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN THE GLOBAL INFORMATION SOCIETY AND KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY”. HP is training schools from Soha, Dakahliya and Behira in Egypt on how to embed ICT in their teaching. eLanguages is part of their training. The eLanguages training is delivered in collaboration with the British Council Egypt and Rages Ltd.

Agenda

The agenda of the day:

Virtual room introduction (30 min)

The participants are introduced to the HP Virtual Room tool that will be used throughout the day.

Introduction and agenda (15 min)

The participants are introduced to the facilitatros Dalia Adel (British Council), the teacher trainers, Dalia El Shahawy and Mohamed Farouk Mohamed and to Ralph Genang ( eLanguages representative, Rages Ltd).

Introduction to eLanguages (30 min)

eLanguages navigation presentation (25 min)

At the end of this presentation the participants should know 1. How to change the language to Arabic 2. How to navigate (use of trail, postion of finding tools, print, etc) 3. How to find resources

3. eLanguages login presentation (20 min)

At the end of this presentation the particpants should: 1. Know how to login 2. Know how to navigate to their Mypage and explore the activity tab. 3. Have changed their password, and make note of their new password

4. eLanguages Hello page presentation (45 min)

At the end of this section the participants should: 1. Know how to navigate to their hello page 2. Know how to change their details: avialble for partnership, checked and corrected personal details 3. Know how to shift between edit and normal mode 4. Have added some text about themselves to their own hello page

5. Join an eLanguages project (15 min)

During this section of the workshop the participants learn how to join a project page. They will all join this project page, the HP Nepad Egypt Initiative.

In parallel Ralph will approve the accounts from London.

6. Building an eLanguages project (1 hour 15 min)

During this part of the workshop the partcipants: 1. create their first project 2. add a posting in their discussion forum 3. add stages to their project 4. add resources to their project page TASK: The participants prepare individually their project plan. The outcomes of this exercise should be: - an interesting, informative title - a concise, engaging, well-presented summary - project stages for the project. Ideally each project stage should be based on the outcomes of a previous stage. A planning template and the 7 Tips documentation can be used to support participants with their planning process. TIP: Make this a pen and paper exercise first before inserting the project

7. Presentations (45 min)

The participants present their hello page and their project page to the other participants. Each participant can come to the front of the room and open their hello page by clicking on their name in the participants list. On their hello page they will find the link to open their project page.

8. Next steps (30 min)
