Welcome to British Council Connecting Classrooms!

Connecting Classrooms in the Central and South Asia region is a project linking clusters of schools in the UK with clusters of schools in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan.

Connecting Classrooms builds lasting partnerships between schools in the UK and others around the world. Through these partnerships, the programme develops trust and understanding between people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for the future. Click below to find out more about the Connecting Classrooms programme.

We now have a total of 56 partnerships established between the UK and Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan.

In order to access most of this site, you will need to log in at the top right hand side of the home page. You will then be able to access your partnership project page by clicking on the 'partnerships' tab

If you are a teacher from the UK, Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan working on the project and need a login, please email cc_csa@britishcouncil.org for a username and password

New School Visits information section!

A new section on visits to your partner country has been created to provide those of you travelling to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan or the UK with all the information you need to plan your visit. As well as including detailed logistical guidance, there are lots of ideas about how to plan the visit and personal accounts from teachers who have already visited their partner countries.

Calling all artists, photographers, writers, filmmakers and musicians!

This is a really exciting opportunity to get your older students involved with a creative and dynamic project with Pakistan!

Offscreen Expeditions, in partnership with the British Council, are searching for creative and dynamic young people from the UK between the ages of 18 and 21 to apply to be part of the Offscreen Expedition in 2010.

Selected students will visit Pakistan in September/October where they will travel from Lahore to Mirpur experiencing the real side of this country and meeting local young people within their communities...

If you want to know more about this once in a lifetime opportunity go to the designated page where you will find information about the competition itself, the prize and details on how to apply.

Connecting Classrooms Central and South Asia cluster on TV!

The Connecting Classrooms team have been working with Teachers TV to produce two programmes about the contribution of international school partnerships to community cohesion. Both programmes are now available to stream and download from the Teachers TV website on the link below and will be broadcast for the first time on 29 June, and then repeated on various dates in early July (see the Connecting Classrooms main page for details).

The programmes focus on how clusters of schools in Hampshire and Bradford are using their Connecting Classrooms partnerships with schools in Sub-Saharan Africa and Central South Asia as springboards to explore and tackle community cohesion.

The Resource Bank

We have created a Resource Bank for sharing your lesson plans, ideas and schemes of work for embedding the Connecting Classrooms project within the school curriculum. We have some excellent examples of work already uploaded but if you have any more and want to share them please send them to the Connecting Classrooms inbox:

Access the Resource Bank

We regularly update the resource bank for you so please use it! A report carried out by LONDON CHALLENGE on the Education system in Bangladesh has recently been put up and is an excellent insight into how schools are working in Bangladesh.
